Using low temperatures for storage of biological products: two concepts of umbilical cord blood cryostorage
Annotation
Today there are two methods of bioproduct cryopreservation: two-phase and three-phase patterns. The two-phase cryostorage strategy consists of cryoconservation with subsequent freezing and storage in one automated unit. The choice of a method remains with each individual bank, but the present-day economic situation leads to choosing the three-phase model as more economically efficient. Comparative analysis was made while applying both methods to cryoconservation of human umbilical cord blood samples. Major advantages and drawbacks of these methods have been assessed.
