Internet traffic anonymization is the process of hiding the originator of the web request, so modifying the traffic trace ensuring the suppression of the information is needed. It is used for privacy and security reasons, preventing data mining or tracking activities carried out due to different causes. Anonymization tools help us to minimize risks of being identified in the worldwide network. This study focuses on anonymous communication systems. Different tools and techniques have been implemented for these purposes. The most popular and best known are Tor (Onion routing), JAP (Java Anon Proxy), I2P, VPN (Virtual private network) and other. We observe, evaluate and compare their capabilities and efficiency more specifically in the present research.
