Described in the article is a method of multi-model forecasting of ground complex elements technical state based on application of the purposeful forecasting model selection from the base of models, depending on the forecast situation characteristics which take into account a combination of both parameters of the process being forecast and quantity and quality of the initial information. Possibilities of implementing the automated procedure of such selection with application of sequential multi-stage approach (multi-level identification) are also considered
