Lessons and prospects of developmentalism for economic sovereignty
Annotation
The paper is devoted to the history of developmentalism (development economics), including its current state. The relevance of the topic lies in the unprecedented situation that the modern world and each country are facing, as they are facing the crisis of globalization. The crisis of globalization has exacerbated the need for sovereign development, while the entire previous history of human civilization has been focused on promoting cooperation between countries and overcoming their divisions and fragmentation. What could be the development strategy for each individual country that is faced with the challenge of independent and sovereign development? The purpose of this article is to find an answer to this question, which is being sought in the theories and practices of developing countries' economies. Modern developing countries have had to address the challenges of becoming sovereign economies due to their loss of dependence on their colonial powers in the 20th century. Despite the fact that the problems of the post-colonial period and the current problems of economic development have different ethical and moral connotations, it is possible to identify the foundations of the development of self-sufficiency or economic sovereignty, as the author believes. The objectives of the study are to examine the theory, strategy, and criticism of developmentalism at each stage of development, which allows for the formation of a set of appropriate measures and tools for managing the economy in the current conditions, and to propose a new stage of development for developmentalism. The research method is descriptive comparative analysis. The scientific novelty consists in further summarizing the characteristics of the first two stages of developmentalism (classical and new) and proposing to distinguish the next stage of development economics as resilient, resisting the decline of economic growth and development.
