The article deals with the problem of welds quality control while welding process. A method of acoustic emission is suggested for quality control, with a set of possible methods for filtering signals. Analysis of the existing methods is done and the most informative ones are chosen on the base of it. Analysis methods of the obtained signals are represented: by the growth rate of the rising edge and the waveform. Information content of the chosen methods is confirmed experimentally. Experimentally obtained data are given showing the changes in signal characteristics in defects simulation (insert Ti, W) during welding.
