Mikhail Lomonosov about the nature of heat and cold
Annotation
This review of M.V. Lomonosov’s attainments while developing the heat and cold theory is concentrated on his works on the kinetic theory of gases where he pioneered quite a few ideas that would become the asset of science many years afterwards, specifically the basic concept of the modern kinetic theory of gases—the idea of instantaneous interaction between contacting particles. Various views of Lomonosov’s contemporaries on his scientific works are presented.
