Implementation and use of spectral footprint databases for specialized processing of Earth remote sensing hyperspectral data
Annotation
The principles of specialized processing of hyperspectral data yielded by space systems for Earth remote sensing (ERS) with the use of spectral footprints databases are reviewed. A technique is described for analyzing the ERS hyperspectral data using a correlation algorithm for object recognition by its spectral image based on comparing spectral characteristics retrieved from remote sensing with stored spectral footprints of known materials. It is demonstrated that the template databases of such spectral footprints is the core instrument needed for the correlation-based object recognition. The state of the art in developing such databases and libraries of spectral footprints is reviewed, and the structure of a prospect database of such spectral footprints to be used for specialized processing of hyperspectral data is described.
